sea and sky

glimmered

march night

drenched

with powdered light

hill street

i stand between
yellow lines
parallel
looking down
to bright ocean
blue
i look up
to telephone
wires
crisscrossed
and branches-
palm, pine, and
jacaranda
and then
that blue
catches my eye
and those slow
point loma
perfect waves
pealing off
breaking off
ever so slow
and vibrant blue
ocean
beckons me
and i look
down
to
parallel lines
yellow
and i follow
all the way
to slow
rolling
point loma perfect
waves
of blue

november 12th

i didn't know
you
but i can
comprehend.
you were:
father
son
husband to a wife
neighbor
friend
and young.
cancer wove
its sickly web.
disbelief,
emptiness hangs
heavy life early
morning fog
and yet the sun
still sparkles
and the spiders
still weave and
i wonder
why...
for
i can comprehend
you were:
father
son
husband
friend
neighbor
and
young.

anna banana

Anna Banana
somersaults
through
yellow fields
of an endless
imagination
hides and seeks
laughter
in a jacaranda
treehouse
while spying
on the world
through twinkly
blue eyes
wild child
she's a pirate
and then a princess
two minutes later
galloping down the stairs
and dancing on dandelions
Anna Banana
smiles radiant
and i often wish
i was six
again like
the rock and roll girl
in her pirate costume

Porque las estrellas del mar son naranjas?

Crees en olas azules?

Porque el mar llama mi nombre?

Why does the wind blow
and why does the tide go low
and then high with the moon?

Why does the luna shine so bright en la noche azul?
