Watching you eat

You're sitting across from me.
You talking to me.
Talking to me in your sarcastic tone.
It's not your words I'm paying attention to.
It's what you look like when you say them.
Your vowels, for example, have this plugged up sort of constipated look to them.
As I say this to myself I laugh out loud.
Then I notice something
Something very curious.
The food, being spicy as it is, has turned your lips a crimson.
A kissable red.
When I notice the hue I feel my lips burn.
In the middle of your sentence.
This sentence that is long and full of incomplete thoughts.
I kissed you.
I kissed you and you kissed me back.
