Senior Sonnet

I see the ghost of our relationship up ahead.
I ache to return to what we once shared,
before the past was declared dead,
when you still bothered to care.
I thought our love was true,
but you lied to me all along.
You left me sad and blue
when I realized our love was no longer strong.
Now I'm moving on,
right through your flimsy lies,
to begin anew like the rising dawn.
Out of your mouth sound urgent cries
that unsuccessfully delay
my departure from what you selfishly gave away.
