New ideas and expanding knowledge challenge us to rethink how we view the world and life. During the last semester we have explored over a thousand years of literature, art, and history, different ways that those before us chose to live.

Create a book in which you pick at least one meaningful quote with at least three pieces of textual evidence from each of the following units covered this semester.

  • Your answer to how we are to live.
  • Rise of Democratic Ideas readings
  • Julius Caesar - Ancient Rome
  • Anglo-Saxon Heroes -
    • Beowulf: oral epic poem from the culture of Germanic-speaking tribes who invaded Britain in the fifth century
    • Arthur: oral legend about King Arthur who may have been the leader of the Celtic people who were driven in to Wales by the Anglo-Saxon invaders; he supposedly united the Britons to fight the invaders around the sixth century
    • Robin Hood: oral legend from the Anglo-Saxon culture of the Crusades and the Norman Conquest circa late twelfth century

Organize each of the quotes and evidence into a coherent and revised statement about your feelings on how we are to live.
