One Academic Goal

  • Specify one academic goal for this school year that you want to achieve.
  • Refine the goal into specific concise language.
  • Create a script that defines the steps you will need to complete for success and the measure of how you'll know you've succeeded.
  • Reflect on and reassess your goal every six weeks.

Example:

My goal is to develop and refine my time-management skills to help me become a more effective learner.

I will do this by using my planner everyday in class to record homework, reviewing what I need to accomplish each afternoon when I get home after school, prioritizing what I need to do in order of importance and deadline, scheduling a specific block of time to do my work, and reviewing my planner each morning to focus on the important tasks of the day.

I will know I have met this goal if I feel more confident as a learner evidenced by my doing and turning in all of my homework, using my planner every day, and increasing my grade point average by 20%.
