Together, we will read and discuss the following poems that are representative of the 1800's. Take notes and interact with the poetry, as it reflects the historical period we've been studying, and you will be tested on this material next week.

Original Poem Writing

Your task is to compose an original poem reflecting your understanding of some element of history from the 1800's. You may use any form you wish, but your poem must be a minimum of 14 lines (sonnet length). You must include assonance, alliteration, personification, metaphor, and simile. Rhyme, meter, and form are optional for bonus credit.


1800's Poem Rubric

Metaphor, simile, personification - (5 points)

14 lines or more - (5 points)
